Average Joe's RC May 21 2011

Here are my favorite bunch of photos taken at Average Joe's RC track in Vineland, Ontario. All photos were taken on May 21 2011, with my Canon Rebel 450D XSI. The lens I used is the only lens I have so far, an 18-55mm.
Enjoy!

FastCats Depot 2011

Get your onroad cars dusted off, it's looking like we are good to go next Sunday! A few of us (John, Carlo, Dave, Steve, Joe and myself) went today to get things repaired/cleaned/ready for next weekend. John and Carlo had to fix the blower, the nasty mess of drywall was shoveled into some bins and is just waiting to be power-washed sometime before next Sunday.
The winters dirt/garbage (including one very flat bird) was blown off the track, and we moved the drivers stand into position. Joe showed up just in time to make it look like he was busy working the morning away with the rest of us.

Here are the classes/rules for the 2011 season:

In case you've never been to the FC Depot, or even seen a video of it, here is a GT1 race from last summer.

See you next weekend!

Canon Rebel XSI

After more than a week of rain and gray skies since I bought it, I finally had a chance to get some outdoor action shots in the sun with my 'new to me' Canon Rebel XSI DSLR camera. I went by Average Joe's RC track in vineland, just outside of Hamilton, ON. Today was a qualifying day for (I think) the first G.L.O.R.C.S. race of the season.

I've gone through the photos and selected the best ones, but still have to edit/crop them before I upload them. However, here is my one of my favorites from the day. I'll upload the rest sometime before the weekend is over.

Kyosho Rocky Pics

I finally got around to taking some pics of my Kyosho Rocky. This is the one I bought a few months back, from a member of rc10tak.com. It came in pretty decent shape...I haven't even cleaned it up yet. I don't think I'll do much with this one. Maybe I'll buy a reproduction body just to finish it off. From what I understand, Team Bluegroove makes them.
Enjoy!

Kyosho Shadow Score!

Finally! After a year of looking for one, I got myself a near-mint Kyosho Shadow! I bought it from a guy in British Columbia for a very good price. The price was a little under my usual spending limit on vintage cars, but in the case of the shadow, I'd have probably been willing to spend more than double that.
This was the 2nd buggy I had as a young lad, sometime in the 80's. However, I can't even remember actually driving it, so there's a good chance I never finished assembling it. I think that's one of the reasons I am so excited over finding such a complete Shadow. I plan on one day taking it for a spin, maybe make a good video of it. Anyway, here are some photos of it!

I am pretty sure that the Shadow was Kyosho's answer to Tamiya's BigWig:

It is very similar is design, right down to the one piece molded body/wing. My buddy Jeff has a newly built BigWig, so I may one day do a side-by-side comparison of the two. Anyone who goes to Speed World tonight to race will be able to see the Shadow. I plan on bringing it with me.

Speed World trophy race Apr 30 2011

Here are all the A mains, and the 2WD B main from this past Saturday's charity trophy race at Speed World in Hamilton:

Turnout was pretty good with 10 heats all together, which was good because all the proceeds from the racing, as well as from the raffles, went to a diabetes charity. Thanks to everyone who was involved for making it another great race day!
